Pink Spring Flowers 2
Pink Coneflower
I’ve got LOTS of pink Coneflowers! They’re very easy to grow, and will multiply each year from their large flower heads that turn to seed in the Fall. Finch and Yellow Finch birds love to sit on the flower heads and eat the seeds. The Coneflowers’ botanical name is Echinacea. The roots of this plant are considered as a Herb that increases immunity and used as a natural medicine. The plants can become large, but I’ve never had to support or stake them, as they stay upright on their strong well-branched stems.
Coneflower ‘Green Eyes’ has fragrant and intense pink magenta flowers with an indented green center ‘eye’. As the bloom matures, the green eye center develops into a rich orange cone. Mature Height is 20 to 30 inches. Mature Spread is 18 to 24 inches. Plant in Full Sun. For Zones 4-9.

Coneflower – Pink Double Delight
Coneflower ‘Pink Double Delight’ is shorter and more compact. Has 3 inch double bright pink pompon-like flowers that turn to a lavendar/pink color as they age. Mature Height is 24 to 36 inches. Plant in Full Sun. For Zones 3-9.
A Dahlia’s symbolism is “Dignity, Elegance, and Forever Thine”.

Other zones are possible by digging them out and storing just before the first frost in your area in a cool, dry frost-free place.
Dahlia ‘Tropical’ is a new variety this year with 5-6 inch lavender/redish/pinkish flower blooms. Mature Height is 24 to 28 inches. Plant in Full Sun spacing them 12 to 18 inches apart. The Daisy ‘Molimba Pink’ has mounds of single pink flowers above deeply cut, dark green leaves that are aromatic when bruised. Attracts birds, butterflies, and bees. Deer Resistant. Re-blooming is possible by cutting them back (deadheading) after their first bloom cycle. Mature Height is 14 to 24 inches. Mature Spread is 10 to 12 inches. Plant in Full Sun. For Zones 3-11. Can become a perennial in zones 9-11. A Daisy symbolizes “Innocence, Loyal love, I’ll never tell, and Purity”.
Pink Delphinium Flowers
Delphiniums grow best in rich, well-drained soil with a basic pH. If your soil is naturally acidic, adding lime will help to provide these conditions. They are heavy feeders, so adding compost or manure as well as a granular fertilizer is necessary for optimum results.
The Delphinium ‘Pink Punch’ has intense mulberry deep pink frilled double flowers. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Re-blooming is possible by cutting them back (deadheading) after their first bloom cycle. Mature Height is 3 to 5 feet. Mature Spread is 1 to 2 feet. Plant in Full Sun to Partial Sun. Support by staking to prevent damage from wind and rain. For Zones 3-7.
Delphinium ‘Summer Mornings’ is much smaller dwarf variety with light pink flower blooms. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Re-blooming is possible by cutting them back (deadheading) after their first bloom cycle. Mature Height is 10 to 12 inches. Mature Spread is 10 to 12 inches. Plant in Full Sun to Partial Sun. For Zones 3-7.
Dianthus ‘Tiny Rubies’ has double deep rose-pink blooms with serrated ‘pinked’ edges and a clove-scented fragrance. Mature Height is 4 to 5 inches. Mature Spread is 10 to 12 inches. Plant in Full Sun to Partial Sun. Re-blooming is possible by cutting them back (deadheading) after their first bloom cycle. For Zones 3-9.
The Foxglove ‘Candy Mountain’ has rose pink speckled flower throats and is the first foxglove ever to have upward-facing flowers instead of the usual downward-facing blooms. This plant is a biennial, meaning the first year the plant grows leaves, stems, and roots. The second year it flowers, producing seeds before it finally dies. Collect the seeds, or leave the flower stalks intact for self-sowing the next year. Attracts birds, butterflies, and bees. Mature Height is 3 to 4 feet. Mature Spread is 1 to 2 feet. Plant in Full Sun. For Zones 4-9. The Foxglove is symbolic of both Healing and Harm, because of it’s medicinal properties. It also represents “Stateliness, Youth, Insincerity, Our Lady’s Gloves, and Gloves of the Virgin”.

Gladiolus ‘That’s Love’ has magnificent pink and white colored flowers. Mature Height is 36 to 60 inches. Plant in Full Sun at a depth of 5 inches, spacing them 5 inches apart. To extend the time of flower availability of your Gladiolus, plant them in two week intervals from early Spring through June. Increase water and fertilizer when the blooms begin to develop. For Zones 8-11. Other zones are possible by digging them out when their leaves turn yellow, dipping in a fungicide, and storing in a cool, dry frost-free place. Gladiolus symbolizes “Strength of character, Give me a break, Really sincere, the Roman Gladiators, Love at first sight, Preparedness, Strenght, and Splendid beauty “.
Pink Hibiscus Flowers
I have many varieties of Hibiscus, and repeatedly receive comments on their huge flower blooms. I’ve never had to support or stake my Hibiscus, and enjoy watching the hummingbirds and butterflies that love this plant.
The Hibiscus ‘Luna Pink Swirl’ is a bit shorter than most varieties of pink, fading to a light creamy pink, and dark cranberry red centers, giving the flowers a “swirl” look. Mature Height is 2 to 3 feet. Mature Spread is 2 to 3 feet. Plant in Full Sun. For Zones 4-9.
